Kadri Koop is an Estonian director, cinematographer, and photographer who divides her time between North America and Europe.
She holds degrees from Stanford University (2016), where she studied documentary film directing, and from the American Film Institute (2020), where she focused on narrative cinematography.
Alongside her personal projects, Kadri has taught cinematography and documentary filmmaking at institutions such as Stanford, the San Francisco Art Institute, and UCLA Extensions.
Her work has been recognized by the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC), with a nomination for the ASC Heritage Award, as well as a nomination for the Student Emmys for her cinematography on SPACESHIP which also received a Gotham Award, and is distributed by Focus Features.
In 2022, Kadri served as the cinematographer for On The Line: The Richard Williams Story, a documentary on the renowned tennis coach and father of Serena and Venus Williams, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Her latest work includes The House of Kardashian, a Peacock Original mini-series that examines the rise to fame of the Kardashian family. Both films are distributed internationally by Fremantle.
Kadri is also a photographer, with her images featured in publications such as Elle and Vogue to name a few.
In 2024, she was honored with the Angénieux Special Encouragement Award at the Cannes Film Festival.
"I'm Expecting," a narrative short film written and directed by Kadri and starring Jessica Park, is having its world premier this November at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, PÖFF.
